About AI Policy Maker
AI Policy Maker was created to help organisations get past the blank page. The aim is simple: give teams a quick, practical way to create a workable AI usage policy they can review, adapt and put into practice.
The idea came from nearly 25 years of experience in IT management, security and governance roles, working with many different organisations of different sizes, sectors and levels of technical maturity.
Across those conversations, AI has become a regular theme: how it is being used, where it might help, what risks it introduces, and how organisations can govern it sensibly without making day-to-day work harder than it needs to be.
In many cases, organisations were interested in AI but did not yet have a structured approach to AI strategy, governance or security. More importantly, many did not have an AI policy at all.
When explored further, the reason was rarely a lack of care. It was usually uncertainty. People knew a policy would be useful, but they did not know where to begin. Rather than write something generic, unrealistic or disconnected from how their teams actually work, they often chose not to write anything.
AI Policy Maker is designed to make that first step easier. It asks straightforward questions about your organisation, your use of AI tools and the level of control you want, then turns those answers into an editable Word policy.
The output is a practical starting point: a way to move from a blank page to a sensible first draft in under five minutes, ready for proper review and sector-specific judgement.
Good AI governance is more than a policy. Organisations may also need training, risk assessment, approved tool lists, data protection review, security controls and clear ownership. But a policy is often the right place to start because it gives people shared language and practical expectations.
